Norcom is 9-1 against Maury since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Norcom Greyhounds will be staying on the road to face off against the Maury Commodores at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Maury took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Norcom, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Norcom didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Granby, but they still walked away with a 44-38 victory. Given Norcom's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Granby is ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Maury, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-51 loss to Manor on Friday. Maury has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Myla Parker, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jamaica Wesby, who scored 11 points.
Norcom is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Maury, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Everything came up roses for Norcom against Maury when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 70-42 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Parker, who scored 24 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Norcom still be able to contain Parker? There's only one way to find out.
