The Baldwyn Bearcats will face off against the Water Valley Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Baldwyn's defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so Water Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Baldwyn is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 43 points last Thursday, they were much more limited against Biggersville on Friday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 27-6. The matchup marked the Bearcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Even if they lost, Baldwyn's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Chanceton Price was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up 2.5 himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Water Valley strolled past Bruce with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-20. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.
Water Valley's win came from a few key players Baldwyn will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Shaddai Freeman, who picked up 129 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Zae Bradford, who rushed for 121 yards and one score.
Water Valley didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Bruce to a completion percentage of just 25%. The team can thank Kemauri Page for the heroic effort on defense: he. Water Valley wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.
Water Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Channing Freeman and Brayden Gray. Water Valley got some further help from JD Gooch: he picked up two sacks and made nine total tackles.
Having lost for the first time this season, Baldwyn fell to 5-1. As for Water Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-1.
Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Baldwyn has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 152 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Water Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 228.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Baldwyn's way against Water Valley in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as Baldwyn made off with a 27-7 win. Will the Bearcats repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
