Effingham extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 12-5 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Mattoon Greenwave. That's two games straight that the Hearts have won by just one run.

As for Mattoon, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-6. They haven't had much luck with Effingham recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

For Mattoon's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blaine Howell, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Effingham beat the Greenwave by a score of 4-1 later that day.
