Basketball Recap: Apostolic Christian Takes a Loss

If Apostolic Christian was feeling good fresh off their 72-42 takedown of Apostolic Christian Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Apostolic Christian came up short against the Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors on Thursday, falling 84-60. While losing is never fun, Apostolic Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Christian Academy of Knoxville is ranked 62nd).

Despite the loss, Apostolic Christian still got an impressive performance from Rogan Bailey, who went 10 for 17 on his way to 23 points. With that strong performance, Bailey is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Wilson, who posted seven points.

Caden Owens was his usual excellent self, going 15 of 24 on his way to 38 points for Christian Academy of Knoxville. That makes it four consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least a third of Christian Academy of Knoxville's points. Teeno Hutchinson was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six assists and three steals.

Apostolic Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Christian Academy of Knoxville, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0.

Apostolic Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Apostolic Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Apostolic Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season. Christian Academy of Knoxville has already played their next match, a 59-38 victory against Barbourville on the 21st.
