Lehigh is 0-10 against Fort Myers since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lehigh Lightning will be playing at home against the Fort Myers Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. Lehigh is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Last Monday, Lehigh was able to grind out a solid win over Naples, taking the game 50-43.
Lehigh relied on the efforts of Rianne Smith, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Faith Plummer, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Lehigh's points. Another player making a difference was Sanaa Geter, who scored six points along with two steals.
Fort Myers suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Lely 77-32. While losing is never fun, Fort Myers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while Lely is ranked 196th).
Lehigh has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Fort Myers, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12.
Lehigh took a serious blow against Fort Myers when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 52-14. Thankfully for Lehigh, Tyra Brown (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
