Sonora has gone a perfect 3-0 against Los Altos recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Conquerors at 3:30 p.m. Sonora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Sonora earned a 9-5 win over Whittier. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.
Gabriela Montano looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sonora got a big performance out of Chloe Hong, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Hong has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Pantages, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Sonora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Los Altos). Everything went their way against Rowland on Thursday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The Conquerors haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Veida Aikey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Aikey was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alliyah Zamano was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Esme Soto was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Los Altos' record is now 3-4. As for Sonora, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sonora hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .424. However, it's not like Los Altos struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sonora was able to grind out a solid win over Los Altos when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
