The Gautier Gators will face off against the Forrest County Agricultural Aggies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Gautier managed to slip by Perry Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Gautier came up short against Perry Central on Monday, falling 17-11.
Madison Parker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Sierra Smith, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.
Meanwhile, Forrest County Agricultural can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Our Lady Academy as Forrest County Agricultural made off with a 14-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Aggies, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ensley Lawler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Lawler was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine contests.
In other batting news, Forrest County Agricultural got a massive performance out of Presley Parker, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Parker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lynleigh Laird, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3.
Forrest County Agricultural always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Forrest County Agricultural's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Gautier, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gautier has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Forrest County Agricultural struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Gautier took their victory against Forrest County Agricultural in their previous matchup back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 13-1. Does Gautier have another victory up their sleeve, or will Forrest County Agricultural turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
