East Hickman County had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 7-13 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Harpeth Indians. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Indians this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat on Tuesday.
East Hickman County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Hill, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
As for Harpeth, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-8. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
On Harpeth's side, Luke Summers and Houston Greer were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Summers pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Greer pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Summers has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Summers went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run, while Greer went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Preston Merritt and Chance Ford did most of the damage at the plate: Merritt went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Ford went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Ford has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Ealy, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Hickman County will take on Battle Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Grizzlies at the right time seeing as the Grizzlies are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Harpeth, they will square off against Hunters Lane at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of.
