Madison has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the San Diego Cavers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, Madison came up short against Mission Bay and fell 55-45. While losing is never fun, Madison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 527th, while Mission Bay is ranked 153rd).
Despite their loss, Madison saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tristan Moore, who scored 12 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Eli Stevens, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, San Diego pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 78-65 to Cathedral Catholic. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Saturday (64), San Diego still had to take the loss.
Madison has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for San Diego, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Madison skirted past San Diego 67-64 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
