Softball Recap: Thatcher Wins Going Away Against Catalina

Thatcher never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Catalina on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Eagles have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Elena Cordova and Alli Johnson were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Cordova tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Johnson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Cordova posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At the plate, Cordova got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Johnson went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Shaylee Hughes was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marlee Farris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Thatcher's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 11-13. As for Catalina, they dropped their record down to 0-12 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Thatcher has already played their next game (against Empire), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Catalina also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Sabino.
