Raton hasn't had much luck against Texico recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Wolverines at 12:30 p.m. Raton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Raton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Mora with a sharp 16-0 win. The Tigers have beaten the Rangers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rangers has come to flipping the script.

Brayden Decker and Warren Berry made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Decker tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Berry struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Decker went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Berry got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Berry is becoming a predictor of Raton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Tapia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Azden Romero was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Raton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mora only managed two.
Meanwhile, Texico came up short against Muleshoe back in February and fell 8-4.
Jesus Chavez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Bowman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Texico's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Raton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Everything went Raton's way against Texico in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Raton made off with a 17-11 victory. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
