Basketball Game Preview: The Meadows School Mustangs vs. Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate

The Meadows School Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on The Meadows School, who comes in off a win.

The Meadows School got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas by a score of 53-40 on Friday. The Mustangs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The Meadows School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kate Verdirame out in front who went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points. Those 14 points gave Verdirame a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ej Nwapa, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

The Meadows School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against Pahrump Valley, falling 45-12. The Pirate were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for The Meadows School, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4.

The Meadows School strolled past Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 49-35. Will The Meadows School repeat their success, or does Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
