Pecos is 0-6 against Seminole since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pecos Eagles will square off against the Seminole Indians at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Pecos earned a 35-27 win over Mountain View. The victory was just what Pecos needed coming off of a 28-7 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pecos to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johnny Morales, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Morales has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Jonathan Sandoval did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Seminole waltzed into Friday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Perryton at home to the tune of 56-28. The result was nothing new for Seminole, who have now won six matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Wyatt Holmstrom was his usual excellent self, throwing for 414 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Logan Mccormick also helped out as he racked up 187 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped Pecos to 5-5 and Seminole to 9-1.
Pecos was taken down by Seminole 56-13 in their previous matchup back in September. Can Pecos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
