Baseball Recap: Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Has No Trouble Against Catholic

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy never got on the board in their matchup last Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Catholic on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Cole Goodman was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is undefeated when Goodman posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Noah Brooks, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Walsingham Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Saints 3.8, the Trojans 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Catholic will face off against rival Cape Henry Collegiate at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
