Softball Recap: Moriarty Makes It Five in a Row at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Fe Indian, Moriarty was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Hot Springs Tigers get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pintos, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Isabella Gallegos made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julie Autrey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ainsley Milligan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Moriarty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .773. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hot Springs only posted an OBP of .167.

Moriarty's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hot Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Moriarty is taking a road trip to square off against Pojoaque Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be Moriarty's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Hot Springs, they will be playing at home against Highland at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Hot Springs is facing Highland at the right time seeing as Highland is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
