The Payson Lions will square off against the Ridgeline Riverhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Payson is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Payson's game was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 27-21 W over Provo.
Cooper Swasey was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 181 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Dylan Wall also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Payson's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Owen Cottle and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, Ridgeline can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They breezed by Stansbury at home to the tune of 52-21. With Ridgeline ahead 42-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Payson's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Ridgeline, their win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Payson has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 395.2 total yards per game. However, it's not like Ridgeline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 378.8 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
