Softball Recap: Magnolia Extends Winning Streak to Four

Magnolia entered their tilt with Hope on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Bobcats. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Kloey Basinger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sophie Smith was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Cole, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Magnolia's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Hope, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Magnolia will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
