Camarillo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Westlake's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Oaks Christian by a score of 5-3.
Presley Watters was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits.
On the hitting side, Kira Palmer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Olivia Tirsch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Camarillo pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Camarillo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .384. However, it's not like Westlake struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
