Oak Grove Lutheran was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last week as it fell 20 - 14 to
Carrington/Pingree-Buchanan.
The Oak Grove Lutheran offense had a slow start and went into the break having scored zero points. That left it at a 7 - 0 disadvantage. The offense improved in the second half (14 points), but the upturn was too little too late.
Despite Oak Grove Lutheran's defeat, the squad still enjoyed a top-notch performance from senior Ben Hoggarth, who ran for 183 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. This marked the 4th consecutive game in which Hoggarth had 100+ rushing yards. Sophomore Joseph Akiri offered Oak Grove Lutheran additional support, laying down the law -- and the quarterback -- with three sacks.
The win lifted Carrington/Pingree-Buchanan to 8-1. The defeat brought Oak Grove Lutheran down to 6-3.
The teams are out to raise these records in their next games.
