Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Clyde Bulldogs walked away with it. They came out on top against Peaster by a score of 41-34 on Friday. Given Clyde's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Peaster is ranked 599th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clyde had a senior duo take command as Blake Carr rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown and Daijon Booker picked up 175 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Booker's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Clyde pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Ballinger and 4-7 Peaster (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.9% over those games). As for Peaster, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Clyde will take on Shallowater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shallowater will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Peaster does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
