Bear River is a perfect 10-0 against Morgan since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bears will head out to challenge the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. Bear River will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Bear River proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Park City 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since March 21st.
The team relied heavily on Nick Oliverson, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Ethan Higgs also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, Morgan got the win against South Summit on Thursday by a conclusive 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Camron Talbot made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Talbot was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Talbot wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Beck Sheffield, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Kanyon Leonelli, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Morgan is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Bear River, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything went Bear River's way against Morgan in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Bear River made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
