Lancaster is a perfect 10-0 against Eastside since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Lancaster Eagles will host the Eastside Lions at 3:15 p.m. Eastside took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lancaster, who comes in off a win.
On Tuesday, Lancaster made easy work of Littlerock and carried off a 13-3 victory. Considering the Eagles have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sam Salas was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordyn Zinn, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Acosta, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Eastside didn't have quite enough to beat Highland on Tuesday and fell 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.
Bethanie Jimenez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Mia Luna was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Eastside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in seven consecutive games.
The win made it two in a row for Lancaster and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eastside, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2-1.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lancaster hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .427. However, it's not like Eastside struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lancaster took their victory against Eastside in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3. Does Lancaster have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eastside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
