Even though the Falkner Eagles scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, the Pine Grove Panthers still came out on top. Pine Grove snuck past Falkner with a 65-60 win. That's two games straight that Pine Grove has won by exactly five points.
Despite the loss, Falkner still got an impressive performance from Chris Nunley, who scored 31 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Nunley scored a full 51.7% of Falkner's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Mauney, who scored 10 points.
Pine Grove now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Falkner, they have fallen quite a ways from their 20-10 record last season and are now at 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Grove will challenge Jumpertown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jumpertown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Pine Grove is ranked 121st). As for Falkner, they will head out on the road to face off against Byers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
