Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Callaway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryceton Sanders, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. Sanders is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Kaiden James was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven assists and six boards.
Callaway was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, Morgan County beat Rutland 49-37 on Saturday. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Hurricanes are ranked 420th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morgan County's win came from a few key players Callaway will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zeki Locus, who posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and six assists. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Simmons, who had nine points.
Callaway is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Morgan County, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6.
Callaway suffered a grim 59-39 defeat to Morgan County in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Locus, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Now that Callaway knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
