The Wickenburg Wranglers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 85-59 walloping at the hands of Chino Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Javier Johns was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points for Chino Valley. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johns has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Landon Smith, who scored 15 points.
Wickenburg's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Chino Valley, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wickenburg will take on Fountain Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Wickenburg likes a good challenge. As for Chino Valley, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Northwest Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
