Woodward Academy is 4-0 against Alcovy since December of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. In what's become a running theme this season, Woodward Academy gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lovejoy 81-51 at home. Woodward Academy pushed the score to 72-38 by the end of the third, a deficit Lovejoy cut but never quite recovered from.
Woodward Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zachary Foster led the charge by scoring seven points along with eight assists and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Foster posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Peters, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Alcovy beat Forest Park 60-47 on Tuesday. Given Alcovy's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Forest Park is ranked 500th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Nick Durham, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Durham is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season. Andre Jernigan was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and four steals.
Woodward Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.8 points per game. As for Alcovy, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.
