AMARILLO, Texas - After five lead changes,
Hereford (Texas) took the lead for good when it ran for a touchdown with under a minute left in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Randall (Amarillo, Texas) 34-31 on Saturday.
The Raiders pulled ahead on a touchdown run by
Collin Bowen, and subsequently went into halftime leading 17-13. The Whitefaces took the lead for good with a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 14 points in the third, Hereford still trailed by 3 points going into the fourth quarter. But seven points in the fourth helped HHS pull out the victory.
Bowen made a difference for Randall. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which RHS took, 41-3.
The defeat comes as a step back for Randall, which notched a 56-42 victory over Caprock in its previous outing. With the win the Whitefaces extended their winning streak to three games. The loss snapped the Amarillo school's 2-game winning streak.
