Mount Olive managed a 27-21 victory over Wayne Valley on Friday. Given Mount Olive's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Wayne Valley is ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Adam DeCristofaro, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Tyler Cumming and his 94 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Mount Olive's victory.
Despite the loss, Wayne Valley still got an impressive performance from Matt Chetirkin, who rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
Mount Olive's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Wayne Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Mount Olive's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Sayreville at 6:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Sayreville is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Wayne Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
