The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers suffered their closest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Broome by a score of 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Blue Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nash Somero, who scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals. Somero is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Bradley, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Broome's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Hill led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Hill posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Coreyun Broadus, who scored 15 points along with two blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Blue Ridge and nudges their season record down to 9-14. As for Broome, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will square off against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Broome, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
