The Wellington Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Poudre Community Academy on the road to the tune of 58-18. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Wellington has managed all season.
It was another big night for Ava Essay, who scored 26 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Samilem Jaquez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the defeat, Poudre Community Academy had strong showings from Joslyn Schaeffer, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and three blocks, and Ash Beck, who scored a point along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Poudre Community Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wellington racked up 19 assists.
Wellington's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-6. As for Poudre Community Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Wellington will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty Common at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Poudre Community Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Twin Peaks Charter Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
