The Taft Greyhounds entered their tilt with the Aransas Pass Panthers with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Taft walked away with a 63-54 win over Aransas Pass on Tuesday. This was payback for Taft, who suffered a 77-40 loss the last time these two teams met.
Taft's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Villalobos, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Villalobos has scored at least a third of Taft's points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Davis, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds.
Taft is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for Aransas Pass, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-17.
Taft will take on Goliad at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Aransas Pass, they will head out on the road to face off against Mathis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mathis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday.
