Softball Recap: Eastern Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern). They never let the Miller Falcons get on the board and left with a 28-0 victory on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won nine matches in a row.

Rylie White 2027 and Jaynna Wright 2026 were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, White 2027 pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wright 2026 struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, White 2027 got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and five RBI, while Wright 2026 went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those five runs gave White 2027 a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emma Putman 2025 was incredible, firing off two home runs, five runs, and six RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since April 1st. The team also got some help courtesy of Aedre Ault 2028, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Eastern's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.5 runs over those games. As for Miller, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern will head out to take on Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Miller, they will face off against Bishop Rosecrans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
