Softball Recap: Greeneview Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Greeneview had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Mechanicsburg Indians. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gabbie Burkett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Burkett wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bella Sutton, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Greeneview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Greeneview's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Mechanicsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Looking ahead, Greeneview will square off against Northeastern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Jets have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Mechanicsburg, they will take on Madison Plains at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of.
