The Waukegan Bulldogs lost against the Regina Dominican Panthers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Waukegan received a tough blow as they fell 39-21 to Regina Dominican.
Despite the loss, Waukegan saw an underclassman step up: Hadassah Brown scored 14 points. The matchup was Brown 's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliaya Cade, who scored six points.
Regina Dominican got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jillian DeFranza out in front who scored 21 points along with four steals. Natalia Cerrado was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven steals.
Waukegan bumped their record down to 4-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Regina Dominican, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waukegan will take on Zion-Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Zion-Benton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Thursday. Regina Dominican won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Niles North at 2:00 p.m. on December 29th. Niles North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 531st, while Regina Dominican is ranked 229th).
