Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Overhills Jaguars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Cardinal Gibbons on Friday, falling 40-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, Overhills couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jordan Bryant threw for 183 yards on 15 of 29 attempts. Carlando Love ii was his top target, picking up 73 receiving yards. On the ground, Joel Lalin rushed for 45 yards.
Gannon Jones had a dynamite game for Cardinal Gibbons, throwing for 242 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes. Jones hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Chet Yardley was in the mix too, providing Cardinal Gibbons with two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Overhills and nudges their season record down to 5-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-5 Pine Forest (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.2% over those games). As for Cardinal Gibbons, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Overhills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cardinal Gibbons' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Millbrook at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Millbrook is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
