Brighton hasn't had much luck against Midstate Homeschool recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bengals are taking a road trip to square off against the Storm at 7:20 p.m. Brighton has given up an average of 55.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Brighton is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Christian Home Educators Fellowship on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bengals were beaten by the Patriots 62-16. The Bengals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-8.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Davis Wolfe, who posted ten points.
Meanwhile, Midstate Homeschool had to suffer through a 75-44 loss at the hands of Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool. The Storm haven't had much luck with Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Like Brighton, Midstate Homeschool lost despite seeing results from several players. CJ Malley led the charge by putting up nine points. Joshua Lonsberry was another key player, earning eight points in addition to six boards and six steals.
Brighton's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5. As for Midstate Homeschool, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Brighton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Midstate Homeschool struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Brighton was dealt a bruising 62-26 loss at the hands of Midstate Homeschool when the teams last played back in February. Thankfully for the Bengals, Nehemiah Hackman (who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
