On Thursday, the Palm Bay Pirates faced the American Heritage Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Palm Bay came out on top in a nail-biter against American Heritage and snuck past 58-55. The victory was familiar territory for Palm Bay who now have three in a row.
Leading Palm Bay to victory were Jaida Civil and Kiara Williams. Civil scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Williams dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Civil's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Erynn Moffett, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Palm Bay's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.73 points. As for American Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Palm Bay will head out on the road to face off against Viera at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Viera has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. American Heritage will be home for the holidays to greet Schoolhouse Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
