Lafayette ran circles around Lewisburg on Thursday, and the extra yardage (365 yards vs. 104.2 yards) paid off. Lafayette were the clear victor by a 35-6 margin over Lewisburg. That result was just more of the same for Lafayette, who also won the last time these teams played.
Lafayette started the contest off right with 28 first-half points. Meanwhile, Lewisburg couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 28-0 heading into the break. The Lafayette defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the matchup.
Lafayette's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but senior Jamie Shaw jr led the charge as he rushed for 92 yards and 1 touchdown. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Samuel Woodall, who racked up nine tackles.
Lafayette will take on Grenada at home at 7:00 PM next week. Lafayette will be strutting in after a win while Grenada will be stumbling in from a loss. As for Lewisburg, they will face off against Center Hill.
