The Community Christian Cyclones will challenge the Gramercy Christian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Community Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Gramercy Christian likes a good challenge.
Community Christian is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since December 14, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Faith Christian Academy by a score of 76-73. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (62), the Cyclones still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Evan Gattis, who went 11 of 21 en route to 29 points and seven rebounds. Jared Kovach was another key player, going 9 for 18 on his way to 19 points along with seven boards and four steals.
Even though they lost, Community Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after only 28 points in their last contest, Gramercy Christian made sure to put some points up on the board against Jacksonville Christian Academy on Friday. Gramercy Christian secured a 58-53 W over Jacksonville Christian Academy. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Conquerors : they've now won four in a row.
Gramercy Christian's win came from a few key players Community Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Luke Bowling, who went 6 of 12 to rack up 16 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Munroe, who made all 5 shots he took to post 13 points.
Community Christian's defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points over those games. As for Gramercy Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Community Christian has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Gramercy Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Community Christian against Gramercy Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 91-60 win. Does Community Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gramercy Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
