After soaring to 35 points the game before, The Serrano Diamondbacks were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They suffered a rough 28-7 loss at the hands of Hesperia. While losing is never fun, Serrano can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Hesperia is ranked 125th).
Despite the loss, Serrano still got an impressive performance from JJ Kavanaugh, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Kavanaugh's longest rush was for an incredible 87 yards.
Hesperia found their leader in underclassman Da'lon Williams, who rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Serrano now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hesperia, their victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Serrano will face off against Apple Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hesperia, they will head out on the road to face off against Sultana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
