Against the odds, the state of Utah has by and large completed a full 10-week high school football season amid a worldwide pandemic. Twenty-three of this week's top 25 teams played at least eight games, giving the playoff seeding process a high level of validity.
Riding a 36-game win streak, Corner Canyon heads into the postseason with the No. 1 ranking in the state of Utah. The Chargers improved to 10-0 last Wednesday with a 53-32 win over American Fork. Quarterback Jaxson Dart has thrown for 3,345 yards and 48 touchdowns – against just two interceptions – while running for another 916 yards and nine scores.
Dart's favorite target Noah Kjar is leading the country in receiving with 75 receptions for 1,516 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Corner Canyon will face the winner of Friday's meeting between Hunter and Westlake.
The top seed in Class 5A is Brighton (9-0), who capped the season with three consecutive 50-point performances offensively. The Bengals went 2-8 just two seasons ago, a good illustration of how quickly things can change in high school football.
