It was a good run, but the Carvers Bay Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Johnsonville by a score of 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Carvers Bay has suffered since November 22, 2023.
Despite the loss, Carvers Bay still got an impressive performance from Kenard Heyward, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Heyward has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Edrick Greene, who scored four points along with three steals.
Johnsonville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Khalil Lewis out in front who scored 12 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Lewis grabbed two or more steals. Xavier Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Carvers Bay's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Johnsonville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-12.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing East Clarendon the next time they take the court. Johnsonville will head out to face East Clarendon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Carvers Bay will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
