MAIS AA District 2 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Leake Academy led MAIS AA District 2 in scoring this week after putting up 39 points on Leake Academy.
Canton Academy's dynamic duo of Chauncey Goodman and Lafayette Wales proved tough for Marshall Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Goodman threw for 39 yards and Wales had 69 yards receiving. Trey Jackson helped Canton Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.
Jake Osborne made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Panthers lost to the Patriots. The senior racked up one sack.
Drew Riley was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 53 yards on eight carries as Oak Hill Academy fell to Marshall Academy. Samuel Harrell also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.
Canton Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tanner Crosby has thrown for 600 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Wales has seven catches for 216 yards. Goodman leads the league in rushing with 868 yards.
