The Vallivue Falcons will face off against the Skyview Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vallivue has five straight victories, Skyview has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Vallivue made easy work of Emmett and carried off a 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
Maris Farner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits. Farner was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ali Knowles, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Abbie Egglston was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Vallivue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Skyview didn't have quite enough to beat Middleton on Tuesday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by just one run.
Skyview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenna Bettencourt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Vallivue pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Skyview, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Vallivue has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Skyview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Vallivue came out on top in a nail-biter against Skyview in their previous matchup on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
