Cloverdale had won four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 14-1 to make it five. They came out on top against the Middletown Mustangs by a score of 10-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.
Camryn Bird was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Ronni Hatcher was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Camryn Donahoo, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Cloverdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middletown only managed five hits.
As for Middletown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.
On Middletown's side, Tallulah Madrid spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Taylor Thompson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Bev Fetters also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Coming up, Cloverdale will face off against St. Helena at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Middletown, they will square off against Kelseyville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
