Merritt Island (Fla.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 24-21 victory over
Titusville (Fla.) on Saturday. The Mustangs took the lead for good when
Nick Smith ran for a touchdown.
After nabbing the lead on a passing touchdown, the Terriers went into halftime with a 14-9 lead. The Mustangs took the lead to win the game on a touchdown run by Smith in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Merritt Island still trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter. But 15 points in the fourth helped MI pull out the victory.
With the win the Mustangs extended their winning streak to seven games. Merritt Island defeated Satellite 28-21 last week.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 38-0 win for Merritt Island.
Titusville (4-3) goes up against Rockledge in a 5A District 12 game matchup next week, while Merritt Island (7-0) locks horns with Palm Bay also in a 5A District 12 game.
