The Honaker Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Rural Retreat Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Honaker will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
Honaker stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Northwood 48-7 at home. Given Honaker's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Northwood is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Peyton Musick had a dynamite game for Honaker, throwing for 344 yards and six touchdowns while completing 95% of his passes. Parker Bandy also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Rural Retreat unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They and Holston were almost perfectly matched up, but Rural Retreat suffered an agonizing 29-28 defeat.
Despite their loss, Rural Retreat saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caleb Roberts, who threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes, was perhaps the best of all.
Honaker's victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28 points. As for Rural Retreat, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
