The Buckfield Bucks will square off against the St. Dominic Saints at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Dominic took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Buckfield, who comes in off a win.
Buckfield was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Carrabec on Thursday. The Bucks blew past the Cobras 9-3.
Gabe White was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. White was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ryder Bragg was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Colby Belanger, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
St. Dominic kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of Old Orchard Beach by a score of 7-6.
Like Buckfield, St. Dominic also got a great game from a two-way player: Logan Leclair. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Leclair was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Curtis Wheeler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Ben Dumais was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Buckfield might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from St. Dominic when the teams last played back in June of 2021. Can the Bucks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
