The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Vista Ridge by a score of 60-53. That's another feather in the cap for Fountain-Fort Carson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fountain-Fort Carson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keira Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Darianna Rodriguez-Smith, who scored 22 points.
Vista Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Kaiser, who scored 22 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Byers, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Vista Ridge were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fountain-Fort Carson only racked up 13 assists.
Fountain-Fort Carson's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Vista Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fountain-Fort Carson will play host again and welcome Doherty, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Doherty is ranked 73rd, while Fountain-Fort Carson is ranked 71st). As for Vista Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Rampart at 12:00 p.m.
