The Valor Christian Eagles pushed their score all the way to 72 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of Regis Jesuit. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (67), Valor Christian still had to take the loss.
Valor Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rylie Beers, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Beers scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Quinn Vansickle, who scored 18 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Hana Belibi was her usual excellent self, scoring 35 points along with eight rebounds for Regis Jesuit. Those 35 points set a new season-high mark for Belibi. Coryn Watts was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds.
Valor Christian's defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Regis Jesuit, they pushed their record up to 4-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valor Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Creek will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Regis Jesuit will be home for the holidays to greet Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mullen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
